""This is a guest blog post from the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR).

If you are a recreational photographer who enjoys capturing images of agriculture — whether it’s farm scenes, animals, or delicious produce — join MassGrown and Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom (MAC) for their annual photo contest. Your photo could be featured in MDAR’s 2017 calendar!

The Bay State boasts all kinds of scenic landscapes, wildlife, city skylines, and other picturesque sights.

""The Celebrating the Seasons of Massachusetts Agriculture calendar showcases the diversity of agriculture across the Commonwealth and the work of our state’s amateur photographers. It includes educational and teaching tips, special agriculture-related days, fun facts, and of course, beautiful images for each month.

Twelve winning photos, and potentially some honorable mentions, will be published in the 2017 calendar. Photo entries should represent Massachusetts-grown crops — maple, cranberries, livestock, flowers, plants, fruits, and vegetables — as well as farms practicing innovative methods like renewable energy or urban agriculture.

The contest winners will be honored at a ceremony at The Big E, an annual agricultural event in September, and the 2017 calendar will be printed and available to order beginning in January of next year.

You can check out last year’s winning photos and learn how to submit your photos online or by mail. Contact Rick LeBlanc by email at Richard.LeBlanc@state.ma.us or phone at (617) 626-1759 if you have any questions.

The deadline is June 1, so grab your camera and start exploring the Bay State’s farms.

Share this post with fellow photogs and join in on the contest. Tweet @MassGov or comment below with questions.
