Planting a deciduous tree on the west or south side of your house can provide shade that will help keep it cool in the summer, which may reduce your air conditioning use. When the leaves start to fall, it will let more light and warmth through in the colder months, helping keep your house warmer and brighter during the winter.

Planting trees in the right places can save you energy and can definitely brighten your day.

Please don’t forget to plant away from power lines and call your utility or dial 811 for Dig Safe before you dig.
