On Thursday, Governor Baker and Housing & Economic Development Secretary Jay Ash visited Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, the recipient of a $136,000 Skill Capital grant from the administration to help build a facility for a new veterinary program. More from the Sentinel & Enterprise:

The 7,465-square-foot-facility that will house a veterinary program was in part funded by a $136,000 grant from the Baker administration received last year.

“This is a great example of what the Skills Capital Grant is all about,” Baker said.

Massachusetts Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Jay Ash described the grant — part of the $26 million already distributed through the program — as a way to meet employers needs for workers with trade skills.

Baker spoke to Monty Tech Superintendent Sheila Harrity as well as building-trades students and teachers helping to construct the facility.

“These kids are getting hands-on real world experience,” he said.
