Seena_carrington In March 2010, the Division of Health Care Finance and Policy (DHCFP), in collaboration with the Division of Insurance (DoI) and the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), convened a series of public hearings to address the rising cost of health care in Massachusetts.

As directed by Chapter 305 of the Acts of 2008, the Division convened hearings on rising health care cost trends to develop recommendations on how to address this challenging problem. The goal of the hearings was to convene key stakeholders – health care providers, insurers, employers, consumers, and experts – in order to identify the factors driving health care costs and to develop solutions that will mitigate growth in health care spending in Massachusetts and improve our health care delivery system.

Yesterday, DHCFP announced the official dates of upcoming cost trends hearings for 2011.  The hearings will be held from Monday, June 27 through Thursday June 30 at Bunker Hill Community College on 250 New Rutherford Avenue in Boston.

The June hearings will include testimony from providers, payers, employers, consumer advocates, and state governmental entities, as well as reports by expert consultants.  These hearings are open to the public, and we will post additional information on DHCFP’s website regarding registration and the submission of written testimony.

Prior to the hearings, DHCFP will release a series of reports that will analyze premium trends in Massachusetts, trends in health care expenditures, and transparency of price and quality data.

I encourage you to visit our website as more details will become available shortly.
