SnowmobileMany New Englanders love the winter season and all the winter sports that go along with it.  One way to enjoy the snow is to go snowmobiling, but you need to be mindful of the safety precautions in accordance with the provisions of the state law and regulations (G.L. chapter 90B, sections 20-35 and 323 Code of Massachusetts Regulation 3.00).

  • All snowmobiles must be registered with the registration displayed on the vehicle (good for 2 years).
  • They must have all the safety equipment required and conform to the specifications of the RMV.
  • They cannot be operated on any state, county, city or town way in the commonwealth nor on any plowed snowbanks of such ways.
  • No person shall trespass on private property unless the owner is an immediate family member, they have written consent or permission is posted.

For further information on snowmobile safety laws, look at the Massachusetts Environmental Police’s website.
