Plymouth 71st ROC Toys for TotsSince 1947 Toys for Tots has been a staple of the Holiday season, delivering toys and hope to children of all ages across the country. Founded by Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks and his wife, the Marine Toys for Tots Program distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million children each year (Toys for Tots Foundation, 2021). As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many families are struggling financially, making non-profits like Toys for Tots even more essential this year. Currently there are multiple Toys for Tots campaigns active throughout the Commonwealth.
To give back to the communities we are striving to serve, the 71st Recruit Officer Class (R.O.C.) held a toy drive at the Plymouth Police Academy. Over the past several weeks, the bins were filled by Student Officer’s, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, building staff and administration and others looking to spread Holiday cheer. Donations included books, puzzles, Lego sets, action figures, board games and more.
As a result of these generous donations, the 71st R.O.C., in partnership with Toys for Tots, will be able to assist dozens of families during this Holiday season. We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to this cause, and for those still looking to donate, the last day for the Toy Drive will be Friday, December 10th. Donations can be left in the designated bins in the lobby of 24 Long Pond Road, Plymouth. With only 23 days until Christmas, more information on the Marine Toys for Tots Program can be found at www.toysfortots.org, where online donations are also being accepted.

On behalf of the 71st R.O.C. and the Plymouth Police Academy, we thank you for your continued support and wish you and your families a safe Holiday season.
