What is the MassCUE Leadership in Blended and Digital Learning Program and Why should a Massachusetts K-12 school leader apply?
The LBDL program offers a job-embedded professional learning experience to prepare principals and their leadership team to lead a blended learning transition in their school. This is a proven program developed and supported for school leaders by the Friday Institute and facilitated by experienced Massachusetts leaders and practitioners who were trained by the Friday Institute on the program which has been used and researched throughout the United States with great results. MassCUE ran cohort 1 in the Spring of 2016 for 12 schools and districts and 50 school leaders in Massachusetts.
The LBDL program is effective because it goes deeper than most sit and get professional development. It is a job embedded program whose activities and planning are immediately applicable to your school at whatever stage of planning or implementation you are at in your digital and blended learning transition.
LBDLCohort 1 had schools and districts participating who were just building a 1:1 infrastructure to others that were well into their blended learning transition and focused on personalized teaching learning for staff and students. All found this program relevant to their needs.
Embedded in the LBDL program is time for your team to analyze your own school data that you collect using tools from the Friday Institute to help you drive decisions and create a plan. The Road Map you create as part of each session of the course will guide your school transition. Important components of the program include: Developing a shared vision for blended and personalized learning; Leading an effective blended and personalized learning transformation; Building a strong and skilled teaching workforce; Fostering a school culture that supports
blended and personalized learning.
Each school team of the LBDL program is assigned an experienced coach who will support the team throughout the course and help them
succeed in their goals for their digital transition. Meet our Coaches.
When a school team becomes part of the LBDL program they also become are part of a larger professional learning network of schools supported even after the program ends through MassCUE’s BlendinMass.org SIG group. This professional network with well over 60 members meets monthly both face-to-face and virtually to promote Blended and Digital Learning in Massachusetts by connecting educators with the people, resources and opportunities needed to lead high-quality digital learning Initiatives in schools around the Commonwealth. Members include MAPLE Consortium catalyst districts as well as DESE department of digital learning advisory board members. It is this connection that makes the program so strong as we have expertise at all levels and and in all areas to draw on for the program all to help our participants succeed in their goals.
