After evaluating the procurement lifecycle from the customer perspective, OSD set a goal to strengthen the buying power of government purchasers while simultaneously increasing opportunities for the business community. To attain that goal, the Operational Services Division (OSD) launched COMMBUYS, a state-of-the-art Market Center, providing an online venue for government purchasers and sellers to transact business. COMMBUYS is transforming the way business is done in the Commonwealth, offering both catalog shopping and online bid management to buyers and lowering barriers to entry for sellers.

Since its inception on March 24, 2014, the COMMBUYS Market Center has fulfilled its promise to connect businesses with government. Over these initial months, there have been over 20,000 separate purchaser sessions and vendor registration has grown to more than 8,000 businesses. Procurement activity is strong with bids posted to the system exceeding 1,900. Moreover, more than 5,000 purchases have already been transacted exceeding $18.9M!

Follow our growth and learn more about the COMMBUYS Market Center community at www.mass.gov/OSD/commbuys.
