The Massachusetts Department of Revenue has joined the IRS and several other states in offering relief to individuals and businesses located in NY, NJ, RI and CT communities damaged by Hurricane Sandy and declared federal disaster areas. DOR will automatically extend the deadline until February 1, 2013 for those non-residents who must file certain MA income tax returns and payments between October 29, 2012 and January 31, 2012. MA taxpayers who may have tax records in disaster areas are also eligble for the extension. Please see TIR 12-9 for details.
DOR is also fast-tracking licenses and waiving fees and other registration requirements for commercial transporters who are coming into Massachusetts to pick up gasoline and special fuel supplies to deliver to Hurricane Sandy victims. What truckers need to know.
