Baker-Polito Administration Advances Mystic River Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge Project posted on Oct 22

Governor Charlie Baker today announced that the Baker-Polito Administration has committed to completing the design, permitting, and construction of the Mystic River Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge project, once constructed, will provide a connection from Draw Seven Park near the MBTA Assembly Station in the City of Somerville to the City of Everett next to the Encore Boston Harbor Resort, enhancing mobility and access for residents while linking communities within the Northern Strand and Mystic River trail network. The announcement was made by Governor Baker, Energy, and Environmental Affairs Secretary Kathleen Theoharides, Transportation Secretary Jamey Tesler, Gaming Commission Chair Cathy Judd Stein, and state and local officials in the Cities of Everett and Somerville.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it has completed converting all exit numbers on freeways to a milepost-based numbering system, per Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requirements. Freeways in Massachusetts previously utilized a sequential exit numbering method.

Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles Announces New Statewide Customer Service Options posted on Sep 8

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is announcing on Monday, September 20, it will begin offering a new wider variety of statewide services to provide convenient service options and flexibility and to continue ongoing efforts that have been put in place to keep customers and staff safe. Beginning September 20, the RMV will be reopening the Attleboro Service Center for in-person services by appointment. In addition, 21 statewide Service Center locations will offer appointments for in-person vehicle and driver services, walk-in visits, and Business-to-Business (B2B) needs. The B2B locations process bulk transactions for auto dealers and insurance agents including new registration and titles, registration transfers and renewals, address changes, and cancellations.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is announcing that it has implemented a new process that can be used by customers to schedule virtual suspension reinstatement hearings and to conveniently upload required supporting hearing documentation. The new scheduling tool was developed to provide customers with service options that are flexible and convenient, to increase the number of available hearings that can be held virtually each week, and to continue the RMV’s ongoing focus on safe distancing to ensure the safety and well-being of customers and staff.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is announcing that Placard Abuse Prevention Week, a yearly public service campaign that seeks to bring attention and awareness to the misuse of disability parking placards is taking place this week from, Monday, May 3, 2021, through Friday, May 7, 2021. The RMV along with the members of the Massachusetts Disability Placard Abuse Task Force developed Placard Abuse Prevention Week to highlight the seriousness of this issue and use educational messaging and outreach to inform members of the public about stringent penalties for the usage of fraudulent credentials.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) in conjunction with Boston Properties (NYSE: BXP) is pleased to announce that new operational and safety improvement modifications have been implemented at the Route 128/Interstate 95 Interchange 43A (Old Exit 27A)/Third Avenue ramp in Waltham. The purpose of this transportation improvement project was to redesign this heavily traveled interchanges and the immediately surrounding area to improve existing traffic flow operations, to enhance safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists, and to provide improved access for the future mixed-use development of up to 1.85 million square feet located within the adjacent CityPoint and 1265 Main developments.
