InterchangeThe MassDOT I-90 Allston Interchange Improvement Project task force has scheduled a public meeting to review the latest information about the project as follows:

Wednesday, October 15, 6pm, Fiorentino Community Center, 123 Antwerp Street, Allston

The I-90 Allston viaduct is nearing the end of its useful lifespan and must be replaced. The replacement of the viaduct provides an opportunity to reconfigure the Allston Interchange which dates to the 1965 extension of the Massachusetts Turnpike to downtown Boston. The relocation of the Turnpike will replace the nearly half mile long viaduct , which consists of 29 bridge structures, and will straighten the highway’s alignment through the Allston-Brighton toll area, reducing traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions while opening up approximately 50 acres of land with an additional 35 acres of air rights development expected over the new highway and rail infrastructure.

In addition, Governor Deval Patrick this fall announced that the I-90 Allston Interchange Improvements project will include a new Commuter Rail stop, with pedestrian and bike access, that will allow for increased development and growth opportunities in the area.
