Longfellow Bridge Aerial, May 2016MassDOT has scheduled two Public Information meetings for the Longfellow Bridge Rehabilitation Project as follows:

Wednesday, August 17, 6:00-8:00pm, Shriners Hospital for Children, Auditorium, 51 Blossom Street, Boston

Thursday, August 18, 6:00-8:00pm, Multicultural Arts Center, 41 Second Street, Cambridge

The purpose of the meetings is to provide an update on recent progress and discuss potential changes for the next phase of the project to shorten the construction duration. The proposed changes (combining Stages 4 & 6) would be implemented late this month and would entail shifting all modes of travel to the upstream side of the bridge. Following the presentation at public meetings, staff from MassDOT and White-Skanska-Consigli JV (WSC) will be available to answer questions.

The same presentation will be delivered at each meeting, so participants may choose the most convenient date or location. The meeting locations are accessible to people with disabilities.

The rehabilitation project is addressing the bridge’s current structural deficiencies, upgrading its structural capacity, and bringing it up to modern code with improved multimodal access and bridge-to-city-street connections to meet accessibility guidelines. The repairs and modifications will be consistent with the historic character of the bridge and comply with environmental standards. The end result will be a signature bridge ready for many more years of service.

For more information about the project or to sign up to receive email advisories, please visit the website at www.mass.gov/massdot/longfellowbridge. For construction related questions or issues, contact the project hotline, 617-519-9892, or email address, longfellowbridge@state.ma.us.
