MAPFRE Insurance

MAPFRE Insurance recognizes that Massachusetts teen drivers are often inexperienced behind the wheel and are in need of extra support and guidance being new drivers on the road. May is Global Youth Traffic Safety Month – the perfect opportunity to take an additional step toward raising awareness about the importance of teen driver safety initiatives. This campaign launched by our friends at the National Organizations for Youth Safety coalition, is held annually to bring awareness to the concerning fact that summer can be a dangerous time for young drivers nationally, as well as here in The Bay State.

Highway Assistance Van MAPFREMAPFRE Insurance is proud to be a part of the effort to help teens become safer drivers this summer. As a sponsor of the MassDOT Highway Assistance Patrol, or “HAP”, including the Turnpike’s Emergency Service Patrol, MAPFRE Insurance helps to promote highway safety striving to inform the driving public of the assistance provided to stranded motorists of all ages on Massachusetts highways. We have supported this MassDOT program for over a decade and applaud the MassDOT Highway Assistance Patrol’s continued efforts to reduce traffic delays, traffic congestion and secondary accidents.

The combined MassDOT and MassPike patrols consist of 45 vehicles patrolling Massachusetts’ most highly traveled roadways. HAP patrols routes in Metro Boston, Worcester, Springfield & Cape Cod (seasonal) during peak coverage hours, Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with extended hours on the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) and extended holiday routes in heavy traffic areas. In addition to the HAP vehicles, MassDOT operates an Incident Response Vehicle (IRV) fleet of flatbed tow trucks. IRV’s assigned to Interstate 93, the Maurice Tobin J. Memorial Bridge, Ted Williams Tunnel, Sumner Tunnel and Callahan Tunnel patrol 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Safety is a priority for MAPFRE Insurance and supporting this vital service fits our mission. Parents may feel more confident in their teen’s safety on the Commonwealth’s most traveled highways knowing that the MassDOT Highway Assistance Patrol sponsored by MAPFRE is there! Certainly, the focus on teen driver safety should not be limited to one month, but this time of year serves as an important reminder. Global Youth Traffic Safety Month is focused on teen driver education and safety, but it also encourages every driver to take a moment to focus on safety, especially in the month of May, leading up to the Memorial Day holiday and the busy summer driving season. Safe Travels!
