I-93 2014 2MassDOT encourages Thanksgiving holiday travelers to check the latest winter weather forecast and plan ahead with the high volume of traffic on our highways and at Boston Logan International Airport expected this year. Highways are typically busiest on the Tuesday and Wednesday before and on the Sunday after the holiday.  Heavy traffic congestion is expected on I-90 at Exit 9 at the interchange with I-84, Exit 11A for I-495, Exit 14 for I-95 and Route 128, and Exit 24 for I-93 North and South.

Free coffee will be served at state service plazas on Thanksgiving night from 10pm through 5am on Friday, Nov. 28.

Please check MassDOT statewide live traffic cameras before you travel.

To save time, money and gas, please join E-ZPass to avoid waiting in line at cash toll booths.

MassDOT will have additional emergency service personnel on patrol to quickly respond to accidents or disabled vehicles and additional toll collectors on the Turnpike. MassDOT will suspend all construction projects on major state roadways starting midday on Wednesday, Nov. 26 through Monday morning, Dec. 1.  Download the RideWise Smartphone application or call 511 for current traffic conditions. To learn more, visit the MassDOT Highway Division travel resources webpage.

All travel lanes on the Cape Cod Canal’s Sagamore and Bourne bridges will be open during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Wednesday, Nov. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 30, according to officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.

At Logan Airport, Massport is encouraging passengers to arrive a minimum of 2 ½ hours before a domestic flight and three hours for an international departure. Travelers should monitor www.massport.com for updated airline and airport information and Transportation Security Administration carry-on luggage regulations.  Mobile enhanced Massport.com allows travelers to check flight status, parking conditions and public transportation options from their smartphone or tablet.

The MBTA will operate on its regular weekday schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 28. On Thursday, Nov. 27, the T will run on a Sunday schedule. Residents are encouraged to use public transportation to get to and from Logan Airport. To accommodate customers travelling to and from Logan, the Silver Line will add additional service during the week of the Thanksgiving holiday, continuing through Monday, December 1.    Visit the rider tools page for apps that give customers information on the go: http://mbta.com/rider_tools/apps/
