Green Line Extension Touch Truck Event 1, July 2015The Green Line Extension Project team including contractor Barletta Heavy Division this week participated in a touch-a-truck event with the Power Kids summer enrichment program in Medford.

Approximately 60 youth from the Power Kids program grades K-11 had an up close view of the construction equipment used on the Green Line Extension project. Green Line Extension Youth Event 3, July 2015The event was held in the parking lot of the Saint Clement School that hosts the Power Kids program and sits directly across the street from the Harvard Street Bridge work currently in construction. The Power Kids walk by the Harvard Street Bridge every day in the course of their activities and were able to learn more about the project they’ve watched over the summer.

After a lesson about the clothing workers wear on a construction site to ensure safety, Barletta Project Managers walked the children through a demonstration of the equipment. On hand were a mini excavator and a remote controlled sheep’s foot compactor! The kids were then allowed to get an up close look at the equipment and hear from the operators about how they do their jobs on the Green Line Extension.

Green Line Extension Touch Truck Event 2, July 2015The Green Line Extension team provided an overview of how the project to bring Green Line trains to Medford and answer questions.  Check the Green Line Extension website for the latest information on the project.
