Lawrence Amesbury Bridge Another bridge reopens to traffic- this one in Lawrence and more than a year earlier than first scheduled.

The Amesbury Street bridge over the North Canal opened Tuesday. MassHighway worked with the City and contractor to adjust the construction sequence plan and reopen the bridge ahead of the original schedule.  Construction is nearly complete with final curbing work taking place with the bridge open to traffic.

The Amesbury Street bridge reopening also diverts traffic pressure from the ongoing work on two other Lawrence bridge projects- the Route 28 Broadway Bridge and the Union Street "Duck" bridge.
