The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has released a series of short publications written for the uninitiated who have to serve as a fiduciary for another person’s property.  Attorneys might consider referring people to these as a way to offer some simple information to those thrust into a role for which they are unprepared.

The publication on Power of Attorney gives easy to read definitions and general guidelines for those newly appointed.

In Help for Trustees under a Revocable Living Trust, the guide gives simple guidelines with appropriate advice on when to consult a professional.  As in all the guides, it includes a list of places to contact for more help.

In the third publication, Help for Representative Payees and VA Fiduciaries, they explain the role of these special fiduciaries.
