Do you know what the wiretapping laws are in Massachusetts? What are the laws about subpoenas in Massachusetts and what exactly is a national security letter? And when did the use of national security letters increase? It seems that in 2001 section 505 of the Patriot Act expanded the use of these national security letters. In an Associated Press article, it was reported that “A federal judge has ruled that Google, Inc. must comply with the FBI’s warrantless demands for customer data, rejecting that the government’s practice of issuing so-called national security letters to telecommunication companies, Internet serice providers, banks and others was nonconstitutional and unnecessary.”
