Cafeteria Seating with Plexiglass Partitions twitterRecognizing that equipping children and staff with the appropriate safety supplies is but one aspect of schools’ safe reopening requirements, DESE has been working with OSD to ensure school districts have immediate access to facilities operations technical assistance services through a Statewide Contract. The newly introduced DESE Facilities and Operations Technical Assistance Services category through PRF61 provides a selection of vendors with extensive experience in school facilities space planning, design, and assessment. Expertise and guidance services include:

» Facilities operations and/or other school-specific operations;
» Modular classroom setup and procurement
» Cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection;
» HVAC system design and maintenance, including internal air quality assessment, commissioning, and recommissioning of systems;
» Applicable occupancy and safety codes;
» District-wide master planning;
» Drinking water systems and other building services;
» School cafeteria and/or food service operations;
» Signage and other visual cueing;
» Accessibility design and people and activity flows, including entry, exit, and emergency evacuation;
» School activity scheduling, including bus pick-up and drop-off, and route optimization; and
» Grounds (including playgrounds) and landscape planning and design,

Several vendors with known experience (as verified by DESE, the Massachusetts School Building Authority, and the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance) were invited to join the PRF61 DESE Facilities and Operations Technical Assistance category. Additionally, for the foreseeable future, this category is open for rolling bid submissions and additional qualified vendors will be added to the contract category.
