Westborough and Southborough: Acceler-8 Project Logistics This Weekend

Acting Transportation Secretary and CEO Jamey Tesler and Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver held an in-person media availability today at the Southborough State Police barracks to announce the upcoming Acceler-8 Bridge Replacement Project and the trial run to test the temporary traffic set-up for bridge construction operations which is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, and will continue until Sunday morning, June 6. During the trial run, I-90 eastbound and westbound will have just two lanes of travel open in each direction between Framingham and I-495.

Tobin Bridge/Chelsea Curves Rehabilitation Project: Arlington Street on-ramp re-opening

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4, the Arlington Street on-ramp to Route 1 southbound in Chelsea will be reopened to drivers. The ramp has been closed since early 2020 for structural and safety improvements.

Westborough and Southborough I-90 Traffic to Share What is Currently the Eastbound Lanes

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that from Friday night, June 4, through Sunday morning, June 6, drivers on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Westborough and Southborough will have reduced lanes of travel and westbound traffic will be shifted to the other side of the highway. On this weekend, a “trial run” will be held to test the I-90 temporary traffic set up for the project to replace 8 bridges this summer. The goal is to make sure the traffic shift and reduction will run as smoothly as possible during the actual bridge replacement weekends from June 18 through August 16, 2021.
