West Springfield Memorial Drive RotaryMassDOT has scheduled a public information meeting for the Memorial Avenue Rotary Replacement Project in West Springfield. The meeting will be held as follows:

Tuesday, December 2, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, J. Edward Christian Municipal Office Building, Justin Morgan Auditorium (2nd floor), 26 Central Street.

The project includes design and construction improvements for two overpasses carrying Memorial Avenue over US Route 5 in West Springfield. The project includes the Route 147 eastbound and westbound (Memorial Avenue) and US Route 5 (Riverdale Street) interchange area. MassDOT contractors will replace both bridge superstructures separately over the course of two long weekends in late spring/early summer 2015. Superstructures are the portions of the bridge spans that support the roadways. In addition, the work will rehabilitate the abutments and other support structures and the retaining walls. Innovative construction techniques will minimize impacts to traffic and nearby utilities.

MassDOT will work closely with the Town of West Springfield, local and area businesses, public safety officials and those who live and work in the town to gather information and identify alternative travel routes.

The public meeting will give the community an opportunity to learn more about the design and construction plans and ask questions and offer comments. For more details, visit the project website or contact Alex Murray, alex.murray@state.ma.us or (857) 368-8811.
