Brightman Corp Picture 28AUG09 The massive, multi-year, four-stage Brightman Street Bridge Replacement project to relocate Route 6 over the Taunton River between Fall River and Somerset is moving quickly this construction season. 

The new double bascule, or movable, bridge design will lift and provide clearance for vessels taller than 60-feet.  The $186 million MassHighway project is scheduled for completion in 2012.  Current contractors for the final of four construction phases are Cianbro/Middlesex, A Joint Venture.

Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito today announced the appointment of Jamey L. Tesler as Secretary of Transportation and CEO of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). Tesler has served as Acting Secretary since January, when he was appointed to replace former Secretary Stephanie Pollack after Pollack’s appointment as Deputy Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration for the Biden-Harris Administration.

Acceler-8 I-90 Bridge Replacement Project: Woodland Road Weekend Work Completed Ahead of Schedule

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is pleased to announce that the replacement of the I-90 eastbound bridge over Woodland Road in Southborough was successfully completed ahead of schedule this morning at 4:00 a.m. All lanes on I-90 and Woodland Road are now open for travel.
