MBTA Patriots Day 2015The MBTA expects thousands of extra riders for the 2015 Boston Marathon on Patriots’ Day, Monday, April 20.
Customers are urged to take public transportation to and from the Marathon and are advised to check T-Alerts for the most up-to-date service information on the day of the race.
The MBTA will enhance service to rush-hour levels before and after the race on April 20. Pre-marathon events are also scheduled the weekend before the race, which will result in adjustments to various bus routes in and around Copley Square. On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured.
Copley Station will be closed for the entire day on April 20, 2015. The following above-ground Green Line stations will be closed between 10 a.m. and approximately 6 p.m. on Marathon Monday: South Street, Kent Street, and St. Mary’s Street.
Customers should also note that all MBTA parking garages will be pay-on-entry and cash-only on April 20 in order to ensure all customers exit in a timely manner. Due to heavy parking demand, some MBTA parking garages and lots may fill more quickly than normal. Customers planning to park in an MBTA garage or lot should plan accordingly. Due to congestion, bikes are not allowed on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots’ Day.
Check MBTA Events on the web for more information.
