As part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Fitchburg Commuter Rail Line, the MBTA replaced the railroad bridge over Route 62/Main Street in Concord with a new bridge rolled into place during one weekend at the end of August.

Crews prepared foundations for the new bridge and assembled the new bridge structure adjacent to the existing bridge.  Watch the new structure, supported on two 80 wheel transporters, roll into place!

The $9 million Route 62 Bridge replacement is part of the $300 million Fitchburg Line Improvement project which includes the rehabilitation of 7 bridges, the installation of 9 miles of new track, the construction of new accessible stations in Littleton and South Acton, and the modernization of track and signals throughout the 50 mile line.
