Temporary Overnight Closures of the I-90 Westbound Ted Williams Tunnel in Boston

Westbound tunnel will be closed nightly starting Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1 from Midnight until 5:00 a.m. for milling and paving operations  

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing construction and maintenance operations will be taking place on I-90 westbound in the Ted Williams Tunnel in Boston. A full closure of the westbound tunnel will occur nightly from midnight to 5:00 a.m. from Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1. These overnight closures are necessary to facilitate milling and paving operations through the westbound tunnel.

Drivers will be detoured through the Sumner Tunnel and all detours will be posted.

Truckers will travel north on Route 1A and return to Boston via Route 1 southbound/Tobin Bridge.

Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Drivers who are traveling through the area should use caution.

All scheduled work is weather dependent and may be impacted due to an emergency.
